The story so far

Twelve years of movies, one long intermission

From 2009 to 2021, The Flicks was Phnom Penh's only independent, licensed art house cinema — three venues across the city where expats, travelers and film lovers watched foreign films, festival winners, documentaries and classics from rattan sofas and lounge beds, cold drink in hand. The pandemic brought the curtain down on August 8, 2021, and the community never stopped asking when it would come back.

That intermission ends this September. Read more about our new home here

The founding backer circle

Help bring it home - Goal Achieved!

The Flicks comes back the way it always ran: backed by its own community. Our funding goal has been met — thank you to everyone who stepped up. These are loans, not donations, and every backer will be paid back as we move forward. With the funds secured, we are now locking in our new home and starting the build-out, aiming to open a brand-new independent art house community space this September. We missed you too!
