Paris, Texas

A gaunt, silent man named Travis (Harry Dean Stanton) wanders out of the sun-baked West Texas desert into a desolate town before collapsing from exhaustion.

Reunited with his long-estranged brother Walt (Dean Stockwell), Travis is brought back to Los Angeles, where he faces the wreckage of his past and meets his seven-year-old son, Hunter, who has been raised by Walt and his wife.

As father and son slowly rebuild their bond, Travis decides to take Hunter on a road trip across Texas to search for the boy’s missing mother, Jane (Nastassja Kinski), culminating in an emotionally devastating encounter across a two-way mirror in a Houston peep-show booth.

Wim Wenders directs a soaring, melancholic masterpiece of existential isolation, family reconciliation, and the mythic American landscape, co-written by Sam Shepard and photographed in luminous neon colors by Robby Müller.

From the haunting opening frames in the stark Texas wasteland to the unforgettable, heartbreaking monologue through the peep-show glass, this timeless road movie remains one of the greatest emotional achievements in cinema history.
