Greedy heiress Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty) and her smarmy lawyer (Eric Idle) inherit a crumbling, dilapidated mansion in Maine, only to discover it is haunted by a friendly, lonely young ghost named Casper and his three obnoxious, prank-loving uncles: Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso.
Desperate to locate a rumored hidden treasure buried inside the estate, Carrigan hires paranormal therapist Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman) and his compassionate teenage daughter, Kat (Christina Ricci), to clear out the spirits. As Kat befriends the gentle Casper—who longs to be living again—they uncover emotional secrets about the mansion’s past while navigating the chaotic antics of the supernatural residents.
Brad Silberling directs a groundbreaking family fantasy-comedy that blended state-of-the-art computer-generated imagery with live-action filmmaking, bringing fully interactive ghosts to the screen for the first time.
From the spooky, swinging halls of Whipstaff Manor to the heartwarming machine that briefly brings Casper back to life, this 90s classic remains a beloved spooky-season favorite.
